Major League Baseball News Article | |  | Sunday, June 1st, 1986: San Francisco and Montreal Agree to Swap The rumor has been going on for a while now, but today it was made official. The San Francisco Giants sent 32-year old catcher Gary Carter to the Montreal Expos for 25-year old third baseman Juan Samuel.
Officials from both teams seem to be pleased with the deal.
This season Carter is swinging the bat at a .291 pace. He has hit 8 home runs and scored 17 times, while driving in 24. His on-base percentage is .316 and he has played in 48 games.
Looking at his career stats, Samuel is batting .246 and has totaled 52 home runs. | |
