Saturday, June 7th, 1986: Horner Has Hot Hand, Bangs 6 hits
6 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 6 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.

In the Angels 20-6 win over Cleveland, Bob Horner was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Anaheim Stadium.

"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."

On his record-setting day Horner delivered 6 hits in 7 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.

B. Horner hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.

Thus far this year Horner is batting .247 with 9 home runs, 35 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
