Major League Baseball News Article | |  | Thursday, June 26th, 1986: 5-Hits Blitz by St. Louis's Adams! St. Louis second baseman Ricky Adams really lit up the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 5-hit barrage today at Busch Stadium -- a performance that sparked the Cardinals to a 11-9 triumph.
He shrugged off the performance after the game and said, "Sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes."
R. Adams grounded out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off P. Underwood in the 10th.
Thus far this season in 63 games Adams is batting .294 with 7 home runs, 42 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 70 hits in 238 at-bats. | |
