 | Thursday, June 26th, 1986: Giants Reliever Hurt Dave Schmidt of the San Francisco Giants was injured in today's game against Houston and had to be helped off the field by the trainers. The initial diagnosis is a strained elbow ligament, and he is expected to be out for up to 4 weeks. It happened while Schmidt was throwing a pitch. "It hurt a lot, to be honest. I just hope it heals soon and I can get back on the field." He has made 24 relief appearances this year with 15 saves. Schmidt has achieved a 3-2 record while holding opposing hitters to a .204 batting average and posting a 2.10 ERA. He has tossed 25.2 innings, given up 19 base hits, fanned 16 and issued 6 walks. |
