Major League Baseball News Article | | | Saturday, September 5th, 1987: Scott Bailes Out for 7 Weeks It took the Los Angeles (N) team doctor a while to realize it, but reliever Scott Bailes won't simply play through back spasms after he got hurt throwing a pitch in today's Padres-Dodgers game. At first, it looked like Bailes might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 7 weeks. A spokesman for the club described the loss of Bailes as a blow, but was confident that he'd be back soon.
So far this year Bailes has been credited with no saves, registered a 3.07 ERA and struck out 62 in 105.2 innings. He also has a 5-8 record. | |
