 | Monday, September 1st, 1986: AL Announces Best Pitcher for August The American League named the winner of the Pitcher of the Month Award. It went to Mark Fidrych of Detroit Tigers, who impressed the voters with a glittering 4-0 record in August. The Detroit star hurler made 5 starts, allowed 30 hits in 39.2 innings, struck out 24 and had a 1.59 ERA. This year Fidrych has a 10-8 record with a 4.87 ERA in 23 starts. |
