 | Monday, September 1st, 1986: Hesketh Collects NL Pitching Award In August Montreal starter Joe Hesketh confused hitters all month long. Last month's National League Pitcher of the Month took home the trophy as he collected a 6-1 record in 7 starts. The 27-year-old Hesketh added 40 strikeouts in 50.1 innings and 21 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.79 ERA. Other clubs hit .185 against him. Year to date Hesketh shows a 19-9 record, 30 starts, 201.1 innings, 144 strikeouts and a 2.59 ERA. |
