The GM was appreciative of his efforts this past year, but the team did not make the progress that is needed to make them a contender.
At the press conference he said, "We may promote within the organization or we might just go out and get the best skipper available. No decision has been made on that, but we will make it soon."
The departing manager told reporters, "Building a contender takes time and good players. We made some progress this season, but it wasn't enough. These days management and owners want instant improvement and instant gratification." |  | Thursday, September 29th, 1988: Sabo Honored, 1988 SL2 MVP Award Chris Sabo, the talented Newark third baseman, certainly made his name known among Sub League 2 hurlers this season. He hammered them for 177 hits, 39 doubles, 6 triples, 22 home runs, 93 RBIs and scored 93 times. That kind of output made him the choice for Sub League 2 MVP Award for 1988. | | | | |
