Monday, November 21st, 1988: Mbita Ousted as Manager; Fort Salonga Begins Search
The Fort Salonga Elms are looking for a new manager. They announced the release of Waleed Mbita today.

Present at the press conference were the Fort Salonga owner and general manager. The owner stated, "We need a fresh new start. I felt for a number of reasons, we needed new direction, invigoration and to play with more enthusiasm."

Mbita told BNN, "I had a wonderful time with the Elms. They gave me a great opportunity. They revived my interest in baseball and really gave me a great opportunity to expand my career. I'm more grateful for the job they gave me than I am saddened and upset by the firing."

"We've got a lot of work to do," the general manager said, "and in the next several days we're going to sit down and examine all aspects of the operation. We will proceed with a search as soon as we possibly can and see if we can't set things in motion for the future of this franchise. In the meantime the team will be run by committee with me chairing it. We intend to have a new manager very soon."
Monday, November 21st, 1988: Brewers Give Manager Wilson the Brush-Off
The Buffalo Brewers have severed ties with their manager, Chad Wilson, firing him this afternoon at a hastily-called press conference.

The General Manager was quoted as saying the club needs a lot of things, beginning with a new skipper. "He did the best he could, but we just did not see the improvement needed to get our team in the upper echelon in this league. The time was right for us to part company."

No word on who will be the new Buffalo manager, although club sources say the list is short.

"We are looking for a winner."
