Monday, September 1st, 1986: Santiago Gets NL Rookie of Month Honors
The top-ranked National League rookie in August was New York (N)'s catcher Benito Santiago.

Last month he played in 23 games and hit .361 with 3 doubles, no triples and 1 home run. Santiago also scored 10 times and drove in 10 runs.

For 1986 Santiago is batting .291 with 12 home runs, 48 RBIs and 38 runs scored.
Friday, August 1st, 1986: Boston Red Sox and Mets Agree to Trade
A trade between the Boston Red Sox and the New York (N) Mets was made official this morning. The Boston Red Sox have sent $1 in cash to the New York (N) Mets in exchange for $5,000,001 in cash.
Friday, August 1st, 1986: Jacoby Gets NL Batter of the Month Trophy
Brook Jacoby used that sweet swing with great success for New York (N) last month, garnering him the National League Batter of the Month award.

The 26-year-old first baseman put up a .377 batting average and collected 8 home runs, 20 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

So far in 1986 Jacoby is batting .306 with 23 home runs, 80 RBIs and 78 runs scored. He has 125 hits in 408 at-bats and a .377 OBP.
