Sunday, September 10th, 1995: Mulholland Records Shutout Against Philadelphia
In an excellent mound performance, Terry Mulholland of the Pittsburgh Pirates whitewashed the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 on a 4-hitter.

He said after the game, "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches."

The Philadelphia manager said, "We just didn't swing the bats well today. Mulholland did a good job keeping us guessing."

In all, the Pittsburgh hurler rang up 5 strikeouts and no walks in the shutout win.

In 30 starts this season Mulholland has fashioned a 16-6 record and a 3.71 ERA.
Thursday, September 7th, 1995: Hit Streak Now at 20 for Gwynn
Today at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium Atlanta lost to Philadelphia 8-4, but Tony Gwynn kept his consecutive-game hitting streak alive with 2 hits. The Braves left fielder has now delivered hits in 20 straight games.
T. Gwynn grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th and walked in the 8th.

For 1995 Gwynn is hitting .331 with 6 home runs. His stats include 60 RBIs and 95 runs scored.
Tuesday, September 5th, 1995: New York (N) Blanks Phillies, Hibbard Wins
Greg Hibbard effectively shut down the Phillies today, blanking them 9-0 on 5 hits, ringing up 4 strikeouts and allowing 2 walks. The Mets pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on.

"I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Hibbard said after the game, "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there."

The Phillies skipper said, "We had some opportunities, but weren't able to execute. We just didn't swing the bats very well today."

Hibbard has started 23 times this year, pitched 167 innings, fanned 59 batters and walked 36. His current record is 10 wins and 7 losses with a 3.50 ERA.
