Monday, September 1st, 1986: NL Choice for Batter of the Month is Kusick
Chicago (N) Cubs 37-year-old left fielder Craig Kusick hit his way to a .358 batting average and the National League Batter of the Month award in August.

He had 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and 26 runs scored for the month.

Currently Kusick is batting .298 with 111 hits and 15 home runs. He has knocked in 60 runs and scored 82 times.
Friday, August 22nd, 1986: Cubs Schofield Sidelined for 7-8 Months
After injuring himself, Cubs shortstop Dick Schofield headed straight to the hospital. He was removed from the game as a precaution after colliding with a player at a base and the team's worst fears were confirmed when it turned out to be a little more serious. Schofield will miss at least 7-8 months with a torn rib cage muscle.

In 1986 Schofield is hitting .302, batted in 62 runs with 11 home runs and 75 runs scored.

Ed Romero is staying put. The Chicago (N) Cubs second baseman inked a $17,200,000 extension, and will play in Chicago (N) another 4 years.
