Chicago (N) Cubs 37-year-old left fielder Craig Kusick hit his way to a .358 batting average and the National League Batter of the Month award in August.
He had 5 home runs, 26 RBIs and 26 runs scored for the month.

 | Friday, August 22nd, 1986: Cubs Schofield Sidelined for 7-8 Months
After injuring himself, Cubs shortstop Dick Schofield headed straight to the hospital. He was removed from the game as a precaution after colliding with a player at a base and the team's worst fears were confirmed when it turned out to be a little more serious. Schofield will miss at least 7-8 months with a torn rib cage muscle.
In 1986 Schofield is hitting .302, batted in 62 runs with 11 home runs and 75 runs scored. |
