Wednesday, August 13th, 1986: Red Sox Lose Jackson for 1-2 Weeks
The Boston Red Sox were dealt a serious blow when the team learned that Danny Jackson was likely to be out for 1-2 weeks after he injured himself throwing a pitch in today's game against the Seattle Mariners. A round of tests by the team doctors revealed the injury to be dead arm syndrome. Upon learning of their diagnosis, the Boston manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries--they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Danny is back in action."

In 25 starts this season, Jackson has picked up 10 wins while suffering 7 losses. He has pitched 166 innings, allowed 138 hits, struck out 94 and posted a 3.04 ERA.
