| | Monday, June 27th, 1988: Leal Shackles Chula Vista Today at Armageddon Ballpark Luis Leal baffled Chula Vista batters on 4 hits en route to a 8-0 shutout.
"He was able to keep hitters off balance and got the ball down," said the Armageddon skipper about his starter's performance.
Leal had 2 strikeouts and 3 walks in the game.
In 15 starts this year Leal has crafted a 2-6 record and a 3.43 ERA. | | Sunday, June 19th, 1988: Valdez Tames Aggressors All went well for Sergio Valdez of the Plano Armageddon as he pitched his team to a 2-0 shutout victory over the Madison Aggressors, limiting them to 3 hits while ringing up 4 strikeouts and surrendering 2 walks.
In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Valdez.
His manager described him this way: "He's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy. He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
The Madison skipper said, "He doesn't give you anything twice. It's a guessing game with him and today my club was always guessing wrong."
Valdez has posted a 9-3 record in 1988 with a 2.23 ERA. Teams are hitting .195 against him and he has rung up 69 strikeouts in 109 innings. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 42-55, .433 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 26.0 GB | | Record at home | 20-27, .426 PCT | | Record on the road | 22-28, .440 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 8-7, .533 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 21-18, .538 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 14-10, .583 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 28-45, .384 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in May | 9-20, .310 PCT | | Record in June | 14-12, .538 PCT | | Record in July | 6-8, .429 PCT |
