| Breaking News | | Wednesday, July 6th, 1988: Train Nastu Silences Aurora Sometimes even Philip Nastu of Olcott isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.
"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said. This time he looked good and made the Aurora Sonics look bad, blanking them by the score of 1-0.
Nastu tossed a 2-hit shutout against them, totaling 6 strikeouts and giving up no walks.
This season Nastu has made no relief appearances, pitched 112.1 innings and struck out 97 with a record of 11 wins and 3 losses. He has compiled a 3.28 ERA and saved 0 games. | | Friday, June 24th, 1988: Hernandez Befuddles Aurora Before the game Manny Hernandez liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the River Hawks pitcher whitewashed the Aurora Sonics 5-0.
Hernandez said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."
The Orange Beach starter held Aurora scoreless, giving up 5 hits while registering 2 strikeouts and issuing 1 walk.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Sonics manager said in his postgame interview.
"When that happens, you usually lose."
This season to date, Hernandez has fashioned a 6-3 mark and 2.43 ERA in 74 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .250 against him and he has logged 22 strikeouts. | | Monday, June 20th, 1988: Week's Top Performer Honored by SL2 At the age of 32, Mark Brouhard might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. He racked up 17 hits in 30 at-bats, 5 home runs and 13 RBIs last week in 7 games.
A look at his season totals shows Brouhard with 18 home runs, .348 BA, .405 OBP, 54 RBIs and 58 runs scored. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 45-52, .464 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 11.0 GB | | Record at home | 20-30, .400 PCT | | Record on the road | 25-22, .532 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-3, .571 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 11-13, .458 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 19-13, .594 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 26-39, .400 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record in June | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in July | 4-10, .286 PCT |
