| Breaking News | | Saturday, June 6th, 1998: Thunder Jets Chill Martinez's Hot Streak It was the best of both worlds for the Louisville Thunder Jets today at Palmdale Grounds as they defeated the Palmdale Satellites 3-2 and also ended Pablo Martinez's 20-game hitting streak. The 28-year-old Palmdale shortstop failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Pablo, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Thunder Jets skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Martinez frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
In 1998 Martinez is batting .351 with 8 home runs and 24 RBIs. | | Friday, June 5th, 1998: Hit Streak Now at 20 for Martinez Pablo Martinez of the Palmdale Satellites extended his hitting string to 20 straight games with 2 hits in today's 5-3 triumph over the Louisville Thunder Jets at Palmdale Grounds. P. Martinez grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
In his season totals Martinez has 8 home runs and a .355 batting average. | | Wednesday, April 1st, 1998: Louisville's Smith Stands out in Shutout Travis Smith of the Louisville Thunder Jets really strutted his stuff on the mound today with a 2-0 victory. He was almost untouchable, bewildering the Victoria Lions with a 4-hit shutout in which he struck out 2 and gave up 1 walk.
