| Breaking News |  | Thursday, June 30th, 1988: Reed Batters Stockton Big Time
Belding shortstop Jody Reed put on quite a show at Dragons Ballpark with a big 5-hit day in the 7-5 victory over the Stockton Underdogs.
In the postgame interview, he said with a smile, "Not a bad day at the plate... 5-6... wish I could do this more often. It would do wonders for my batting average... and my salary, too."
J. Reed singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off D. Patterson in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
In 77 games this year Reed has posted a .311 average and put up these numbers: 8 home runs, 49 RBIs and 51 runs scored. |
 | Monday, June 6th, 1988: Toughest Out of the Week Wins SL1 Award
At the age of 29, Terry Francona might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Belding left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the Sub League 1 Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 8 hits in 16 at-bats, 1 home run and 4 RBIs last week in 5 games.
This season Francona is batting .374 with 2 home runs.

| Wednesday, June 1st, 1988: Terry Francona is May's #1 Hitter in SL1
Terry Francona put together a good May to earn the Sub League 1 Batter of the Month prize. A virtual unknown, he made the most of his chance to prove to Belding officials that he belongs on the big league roster.
The Dragons left fielder posted a .414 batting average with 2 home runs, 26 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
This season Francona is batting .373 with 87 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 40 times and has 41 RBI.
