| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, August 1st, 1995: Bartee Raps San Bernardino for 5 Hits 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Kimera Bartee of the Saint Petersburg Phoenix. He tore up the San Bernardino Lakers to the tune of 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the Saint Petersburg 19-4 win today at Phoenix Stadium.
"Bartee was a tough out today," the San Bernardino manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
K. Bartee singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
This season Bartee is batting .264 with 2 home runs. |  | Tuesday, August 1st, 1995: Great July Gets Garcia SL2 Best Hitter Award When Freddy Garcia stepped up to the plate in July, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the Sub League 2 Batter of the Month award.
The young San Bernardino left fielder posted a .400 batting average with 8 home runs, 25 RBIs and scored 19 runs. Garcia also worked pitchers for 23 walks to post a .521 on-base percentage.
Garcia is batting .277 in 1995 with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs and 48 runs scored.
