| Breaking News | | Monday, July 4th, 1988: Sub League 2 Picks Top Player It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Sub League 2, but last week Geronimo Berroa of the Buffalo Brewers reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.
Berroa rocked opposing pitching for a .480 average (12-25), 2 home runs and 10 RBIs to come away with the award.
This year Berroa is batting .453 with 3 home runs and 21 RBIs. In 16 games he has scored 15 times. | | Saturday, July 2nd, 1988: Bordley Pitches Brewers to Shutout Win Speaking after the game, the Buffalo manager said, "Bill Bordley had everything going for him. He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement... he had it all... masterful."
Bordley held the Laredo Marauders to 1 hit and fashioned a fine 2-0 shutout. He had 3 walks and no strikeouts in the game.
"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," the Laredo skipper told reporters.
In 1988 Bordley has logged 10 wins and 7 losses and struck out 27 batters in 118.2 innings while compiling a 3.79 ERA. | | Sunday, June 26th, 1988: Parent Belts Bunch of Base Hits Mark Parent was on fire today and the Glendale catcher was a tough out, but it was all in vain as the Rustlers fell 11-7 to the Brewers. For the game he went 5 for 5 against Buffalo in a fine hitting display.
"I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody... and some days they fall in. We just didn't get enough hits at the right time."
M. Parent singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.
This year Parent is batting .316 with 68 hits, 1 home run, 33 RBIs, 20 walks, .367 OBP and has scored 42 runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 62-34, .646 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 35-13, .729 PCT | | Record on the road | 27-21, .563 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-1, .800 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 16-10, .615 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 18-5, .783 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 44-29, .603 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 17-11, .607 PCT | | Record in May | 19-10, .655 PCT | | Record in June | 17-8, .680 PCT | | Record in July | 9-5, .643 PCT |
