| Breaking News | | Monday, June 27th, 1988: Serna's Strong Week Earns SL2 Trophy The marquee name in the Sub League 2 this week is Paul Serna of the Garland Express.
The hot-hitting 29-year-old shortstop put up a .483 average and .516 on-base percentage, piling up 14 hits in 29 at-bats, 1 home run, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored.
That kind of hitting got him the SL2 Player of the Week honors.
Hitting .285 to date, Serna has 7 home runs and 43 RBIs. He has played in 76 games. | | Tuesday, June 21st, 1988: Serna 5-5 Against Durham Paul Serna had an answer for everything the Durham Grenadiers threw him today in the Garland 4-3 triumph at Express Ballpark. He made good contact 5 times and 5 times he drilled the ball for a base hit.
The Garland shortstop went 5 for 5 in the game to put his name in the record book.
Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Serna said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."
P. Serna hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off S. Stewart in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
Thus far this year Serna is batting .276 with 7 home runs, 41 RBIs and 26 runs scored. | | Tuesday, June 14th, 1988: Garland Halts Robertson's Hitting Steak Lakers shortstop Andre Robertson was one of the hottest hitters in baseball, coming into today's game against Garland with a 20-game hitting streak. However, the Express put a chill in his bat, at least for today, and held him hitless in 3 at-bats during the Garland 1-0 triumph at Lakers Ballpark.
In 66 games this season Robertson has batted at a .257 pace with 67 hits and 1 home run. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 56-40, .583 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 27-21, .563 PCT | | Record on the road | 29-19, .604 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 8-3, .727 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 20-11, .645 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 23-19, .548 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 33-21, .611 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 19-9, .679 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 14-11, .560 PCT | | Record in July | 7-7, .500 PCT |
