| Breaking News | | Friday, July 10th, 1998: Davis Too Tough, Blanks Buffalo
Doug Davis of the Garland Express was right on target when he blanked the Buffalo Brewers 8-0, yielded 4 hits and totaled 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
Speaking to BNN reporters after the game, Davis said, "I had everything working today and I got some help from my defense, too. They saved my butt a few times."
Checking out his stats for the year, Davis has racked up 2 wins and 3 losses in 6 starts, 4.54 ERA and struck out 3 batters in 33.2 innings.

| Monday, May 18th, 1998: Karl Spins Masterpiece, No-Hits Tulsa
Scott Karl of the Express was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew... he was one out from a no-hitter. He froze... for a couple of seconds he didn't move.
"This hitter is the last one," Karl told himself. Then he collected himself and finished one of his greatest performances ever.
The Garland hurler no-hit the Tulsa Galleons 1-0 at Express Ballpark, finishing with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts, facing only 29 batters.
Karl admitted to the press, "I knew from the fifth inning on it was a no-hitter, but really didn't worry about it until the last out. I just wanted to win the game until then... then I wanted the no-hitter, too."
Karl has made 10 starts so far this year and put up a 5-4 won-lost record with a 3.02 ERA. In 65.2 innings he has allowed 47 hits, walked 17 and struck out 45.
