| Breaking News |  | Friday, July 1st, 1988: McClendon Earns June's Top Batter Prize in SL1
Not known for his offensive prowess, Lloyd McClendon set the league afire in June and took home the Sub League 1 Batter of the Month award.
The Berlin left fielder posted a steady .341 batting average, 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and 23 runs.
McClendon has a .317 average and a .392 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 93 hits, 13 home runs and driven in 61 runs. |
 | Tuesday, June 28th, 1988: League KO's Hippopotamuses-Termites Players with 7-Game Suspensions
A bench-clearing brawl marred the Watts Mills-Berlin game at Hippopotamuses Ballpark yesterday and resulted in two players being suspended today by the league office. The Hippopotamuses Rafael Santana and the Termites Joe Unknown were ejected from the game for fighting. Both players will have to sit out 7 games.
This season Santana is batting .275 with 3 home runs. He has scored 54 runs and driven in 40.

Berlin's Jose Cano dazzled the Termites Ballpark crowd with a fine display of pitching. From the start, Cano dominated the Henderson lineup en route to a sparkling 7-0 shutout. He finished with 2 strikeouts and 3 walks.
