Saturday, May 28th, 1988: Heredia Blanks Bugs
Henderson pitcher Ubaldo Heredia gave the Barnes Lake-Millers Lake Bugs fits today as he blanked them 8-0 on 6 hits. He registered 1 strikeout and 1 walk in the shutout.

His manager said, "When he's locating his pitches, he becomes unpredictable. He had Barnes Lake-Millers Lake guessing the entire game."

In 12 starts this season Heredia has rung up a 7-4 record and a 3.84 ERA.
Sunday, May 1st, 1988: Meadows April's Best Bat Choice
Louie Meadows is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Barnes Lake-Millers Lake left fielder joined that select company when the Sub League 1 announced the results of April's voting.

Meadows totaled 40 hits, 28 walks, 4 home runs, 19 RBIs and 29 runs scored last month to put together a .385 batting average and .511 on-base percentage.

Friday, April 29th, 1988: Dazzlers Snap Raines's Streak at 25
Bugs left fielder Tim Raines went 0-for-4 today in Barnes Lake-Millers Lake's 4-3 triumph over the Montrose Dazzlers, snapping his 25-game hitting streak.

Raines spoke to BNN after the game and said, "I knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later. I just would have preferred later."

When he made an out in his last chance at bat, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout.

The Dazzlers manager shrugged off the streak. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," he said. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."

Thus far this season in 25 games Raines is batting .353 with 6 home runs, 16 RBIs and 31 runs scored. He has 42 hits in 119 at-bats.
