| Breaking News | | Wednesday, September 6th, 1995: Twins Chill Dascenzo's Hot Streak It was the best of both worlds for the Minnesota Twins today at Oakland-Alameda Coliseum as they defeated the Oakland Athletics 3-1 and also ended Doug Dascenzo's 22-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old Oakland right fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Doug, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Twins skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Dascenzo frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
Thus far this year Dascenzo has hit .353 with 12 home runs and 71 RBIs. | | Sunday, September 3rd, 1995: Injury Takes Toll, Trombley Out Minnesota fans will be disappointed to learn that Mike Trombley developed dead arm syndrome while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the Minnesota Twins manager that Trombley was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the starting pitcher could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
Over the season Trombley has thrown 184 innings and dished out 228 strikeouts with a 18-6 mark and a 2.84 ERA. | | Friday, September 1st, 1995: Trombley - August's Starter of the Month The American League scribes have selected August's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Mike Trombley of Minnesota.
