| Breaking News |  | Friday, July 1st, 1988: Pulido - June's Top Starter
Alfonso Pulido was a long shot to make the Lubbock Terriers this year, especially being a 31-year-old rookie. Now the Lubbock hurler has parlayed a 3-0 record into the Sub League 2 Pitcher of the Month award.
In June, he chalked up 17 strikeouts in 35.1 innings and compiled a 1.78 ERA.
In 1988 Pulido has compiled a 9-4 mark with a 2.21 ERA in 17 starts. In pitching 118.1 innings he has 51 strikeouts and 30 walks while limiting the opposition to a .226 batting average. |
 | Monday, June 27th, 1988: Hard to Handle Hitter Wins SL2 Honor
It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the Sub League 2, but last week Edgar Diaz of the Lubbock Terriers reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.
Diaz rocked opposing pitching for a .484 average (15-31), no home runs and 8 RBIs to come away with the award.
Currently Diaz has 3 home runs and a .320 batting average. |
 | Tuesday, May 31st, 1988: Bystrom Holds Aviators Scoreless
It was a smooth and solid performance by Marty Bystrom of the Lubbock Terriers against Butler today. He crafted a fine 5-hitter in blanking them 8-0 and chalked up 6 strikeouts and 1 walk along the way.
"It certainly makes my job easy," said the Lubbock skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a shutout. I can just sit back, watch and enjoy."
This year Bystrom has compiled a 7-4 mark with a 2.05 ERA in 12 starts.
